In 2004 I wanted to open a shop that carried
flowers, unique gifts, and Christian supplies. I
prayed a lot about opening it and when I felt certain
that God had given me "the green light" I embarked
on coming up with a name for my shop. One day I
was listening to the song "Alabaster Box" by CeCe
Winans, about the story in the Bible where Mary
washed Jesus' feet with the oil from her Alabaster
Box. Since I wanted the name to be a reflection of
Christianity I chose Alabaster Box. I prayed about
the finances because I didn't want to borrow a lot
of money and get over my head. The fall of 2005
Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast and God
blessed me with the opportunity to help the victims
as well as being paid while I helped! I am so
blessed because of the trip of the Gulf, It gave me
the finances to open my shop "officially" in October
of 2005! I never think about the Coast and the
Hurricane without thinking of my shop---"Alabaster
Box" and as Cece Winans says in her song..... You
don't know the cost of the oil in my Alabaster Box.
